The National Steering Committee which is under the Ministry of Information and technology was on the nerves of some contoversial social commentators and broadcasters. Last month they recommended them to be investigated for hate speech. Hate speech is often affliated to politics, a game of thrones. With trending social media platforms and blogs, one blindly joins the bandwagon of hate speech mongers. Kenyan politics takes the perfect example. Most of the leaders we happen to have today belong to a particular peer group, caste or as is the case today.
Ethnicity will always be a social vice thtat divides a state. If no drastic steps are taken before it eventually escalates it can detriment the society. These leaders are palatine and once they perceive the idea of being in power, they flatly deny being looked down upon. Hate speech mongers have taken a digital step ahead. They have become online hate speech investors. 70% of the dictatorial governments of Northern Africa veered off into popular revolution caused by the social media spark. Hate speech mongers should be appprehended and toed to the line for incitement and the use of obscenities. We have brilliant leaders but they are surrounded by mediocrities.
The role of the press is to be at the centre of National development not only in Kenya but all over the world. I srongly resent critcism by hate speech vendors. It is an abomination of the highest level tor sit back and watch a country fall apart and cause hatred and disgust among innovative peace loving citizens. This is total madness which should be rehabilitated.
The tyranny of numbers according to Mutahi Ngunyi's theory, a prominent Kenyan political analyst is just abound due to Natural existence and God's creation. Incitement must have a relation to the public. Whether spoken, written or published. As long as it causes hatred among people it amounts to hate speech. It is often affliated with elitism. This is the main reason why ethnicity and tribalism remains a barrier to peace and harmony. Conciliation and a tongue-wagged change of the normal way of doing things will save a country. The major problem is negligence of marginaized communities. They feel abadoned since one ethnic group has previled in power. In this era the elite will always be favoured due to their high-flying influnce in the society. Politics is a dirty game and one has to be a master of his own to survive in it. Pretence holds back lack of good governance in it.
Anti-corruption institutions worldwide have failed in shaming prominent politicians of being corrupt. Three weeks ago Egypt had join hands with the Swiss in order to acheive this. They have an objective of preventing ill-gotten assets from reaching Swiss bank. They are working closely with the Swiss counterparts on recovering $78.81 million stashed by Hosni Mubarak the former Egyptian President. The press in my own opinion subtly plays its own game of sailing hate speech. Healing the wound of ethnicity and tribalism should start with the press. From a reasonable man's point of view, the press solely fuels ethnicity. Why would they air inciting clips of politicians who don't respect peace? This is where I draw the line of conclusion saying, "There is more than what just meets the eye."
